Corona created havoc in China, 60 thousand people died in last one month

China Covid Death: Chinese health officials on Saturday (January 14) reported nearly 60,000 deaths from Covid in just one month. The Chinese government had relaxed in the beginning of December last month. Since then, this is the first big count regarding the deaths due to Corona.

China recorded 59,938 Covid-related deaths between December 8, 2022, and January 12 this year, Xiao Yahui, head of the Medical Administration Bureau of China’s National Health Commission, told a press conference. This figure only shows deaths recorded in medical facilities, while there would be countless more cases of deaths from corona. which have not yet appeared.

Zero Kovid policy was removed

Out of 60,000 deaths in a month, there are 5,503 such cases, whose death was due to difficulties in breathing. Apart from this, there are 54 thousand 435 cases, whose death was due to diseases other than corona. In early December, China removed its zero covid policy, after which China has been accused of reducing the number of deaths due to the virus.

WHO was keeping the data

Chinese health officials insisted on Wednesday (January 11) that it was not necessary to focus on the exact number. Beijing had earlier revised its working system to categorize Covid deaths. He said it would only count those who died specifically because of inhaling the virus. But it was criticized by the World Health Organization. He had said that this definition is very strange.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the WHO was continuing “viral sequencing” along with more rapid, regular, reliable data on hospitalizations and deaths from China. Chinese health officials on Saturday (14 January) that the average age of those who died was 80.3 years, with more than 90 percent of people over the age of 65. Millions of people over the age of 60 in China have not been vaccinated.
